Variety taps Gaydos for London post

Exec editor to build international, online activites

Steven Gaydos, Daily Variety executive editor, has assumed the additional title of managing director for Variety's international operations and will move his base to London. While retaining his editing duties, Gaydos also will assume responsibility for Variety's international initiatives, and will oversee the work of overseas bureau chiefs and reporters. Gaydos will work closely with Peter Cowie, international publishing director, and Adam Dawtrey, chief European correspondent.

"Variety's European operations and online activities are expanding rapidly, and we are fortunate to have an executive of Steve Gaydos' knowledge and skill to oversee them," said Peter Bart, vice president and editor-in-chief of Daily Variety.

"Gaydos' affinity for the international marketplace and his broad background both in editorial and in special reports make him the ideal candidate for this newly created position," said Charles C. Koones, group vice president and publisher.

Gaydos will relocate to London in September.
