AntEye inks Russell's 'Hernandez'

Pic set for Web in fall

AntEye.com has inked a deal to finance and distribute David O. Russell's docu "Benny Hernandez" on the Web site.

Pic, about the life of stuntman, actor and boxer Hernandez, will bow on the dot-com in the fall.

It follows Hernandez's personal conflicts outside the ring: his neurological disorder; juggling relationships with his wife and mistress; negotiating with Oscar de la Hoya to manage his boxing career; and failing to land a role on CBS laffer "Everybody Loves Raymond."

"This documentary is filled with weird surprises," said Russell, who met Hernandez while making "Three Kings."

AntEye identifies emerging filmmakers and funds their TV pilot ideas with budgets up to $100,000 and short digital films with $250,000 for distribution across all media.

Los Angeles-based company is hoping to transition into traditional TV, cable and film markets, with viewers determining which shows escape cyberspace.

"David is a great inspiration for media creators, and we're obviously thrilled that, not only will he be a mentor on our site, but that he chose AntEye.com to debut his first digital film," AntEye CEO Matti Leshem said.

Russell has also helmed "Spanking the Monkey" and "Flirting With Disaster."
