Kanan, Hammerschlag prep 'March'

Thesp Sean Kanan, best known for his sudser roles on "General Hospital" and "Sunset Beach," is adding producer and screenwriter to his resume, announcing the launch of his new joint production house with producer Jessica Hammerschlag.

Company, dubbed Kanan/Hammerschlag Prods., is currently prepping their first feature, "March." Story concerns one man's emotional alienation and loss of self.

Kanan will co-star in the pic with Rena Sofer, who will next appear in USA Films' "Traffic," helmed by Steven Soderbergh. "March" begins lensing Aug. 1 in L.A.

Additionally, Kanan is set to executive produce "Christmas With J.D.," which he penned. Pic will be distributed by Lions Gate and will lense in Canada this fall. Kanan will also appear opposite Treat Williams in the HBO telefilm "Crash Point Zero."

Hammerschlag has previously held posts at HWA Talent Representatives and Innovative Artists. Her last venture, Ubiquity Entertainment, produced the TV pilot "Doin' Life" which starred Melanie Mayron and Kadeem Hardison.
