Morayniss continues to report to Alliance Atlantis Entertainment prexy Peter Sussman. Both execs are stationed in the Toronto-based company's Santa Monica offices.
Morayniss has served as exec VP of television production since 1998. He joined the company in Toronto in 1991 and moved to Los Angeles in 1996 to head worldwide business affairs for the TV group.
Most recently, Morayniss helped develop the longform projects "Nuremberg" for TNT and "Haven" and "Jewel" for CBS.
"He is just the person we want in this position," Sussman said. "He is someone who will bring fresh, cutting-edge wit and energy to Alliance Atlantis programming."
Alliance Atlantis produces the Tribune-distributed firstrun series "BeastMaster" and "Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict" as well as the CTV series "The Associates" in Canada.
Under the AACKids label, the company also produces the Disney Channel's "The Famous Jett Jackson" and Fox Family Channel's "I Was a Sixth Grade Alien."
"This is indeed an exciting time for both Alliance Atlantis and me personally," Morayniss said. "We are in the middle of significant growth in our longform department, and in the immediate future, we will also focus on producing series for cable services such as the Disney Channel, VH1, MTV and TBS."
