Moviefan to open 'Zoo' at Mifed
Company's first pic stars Neill, McKee in $6 mil drama
The pic, "The Zoo Keeper," is a $6 million drama starring Sam Neill and Gina McKee and directed by Ralph Ziman.
Company is also opening an international sales office in London to be headed by Dee Emerson, previously sales and acquisitions chief of Beyond.
"We plan to co-produce and co-finance two features annually, in the $3 million-$10 million range, and supply three acquisitions -- all with English dialogue -- aimed at the international markets," said Michael Lunderskov, a former advertising executive who has set up the enterprise.
Set during a civil war in an Eastern European country, "The Zoo Keeper" follows a disillusioned ex-communist who is left behind to take care of the animals in the capital's zoological gardens until a U.N. rescue force arrives.
Moviefan has another two features in pre-production: Bela Tarr's $3 million "The Man From London," from Tarr and Laszlo Krasznahorkai's script based on a detective story by Georges Simenon, and the $6 million drama "Soldier of Plenty," from an original screenplay by John Bishop.
