CNN Int'l launches web

CNN International launched a South Asian channel in India Monday. Chris Kramer, president of CNN International, said initially the channel will be in English but plans are afoot to start local language channels as well.

Initially, the channel will have a five-hour primetime block comprising international and regional news bulletins. The channel has set up offices in New Delhi and Mumbai.

The channel is also holding talks with local production companies like United Television (UTV) and Bharat Bala Productions, both based in Mumbai, for production of programs.
