Group to promote '2gether' TV series
MTV invention to open for Britney
Meanwhile, Paul Lazarus ("Everybody Loves Raymond," "Mad About You") has been signed to direct "2gether: The Series," which debuts on MTV Aug. 15 at 10:30 p.m.
2gether opens for Spears in Irvine, Calif., on July 29; Concord, Calif., on Aug. 1; and San Bernardino, Calif., on Aug. 5. Other tour dates include stops in Boston; Saratoga, N.Y.; Indianapolis; and Columbus, Ohio.
Production on "2gether" began June 26 in Vancouver. Series stars Evan Farmer as the group's "heart throb," Alex Solowitz as the "rebel," Michael Cuccione as the "cutie," Noah Bastian as the "shy one," and Kevin Farley as "the older brother."
"2gether" first appeared as MTV's first original TV movie. Pic attracted 1.5 million viewers when it premiered on Feb. 21, ranking No. 1 among 12- to 34-year-olds in MTV's cable universe.
All five actors return in the roles they played in the movie. Mark Gunn and Brian Gunn created and exec produced the film and series.
Lazarus' other directing credits include stints on "Friends," "Dream On," "Melrose Place" and "Beverly Hills, 90210."
