Producer Paula Weinstein accepts her Hall of Fame award at the Showbiz Expo in L.A.

"We live and work in a business where the amount of money a picture makes is often its most important attribute, producer Paula Weinstein said Friday after receiving Variety's Showbiz Expo Hall of Fame Award.

"However," she continued, "while I may not have produced a great number of record-breaking films, I have been privileged to work with many successful producers, and I thank Variety for noticing me for that accomplishment."

Variety's executive editor Steven Gaydos further touched on this issue before presenting Weinstein with the award. "This honor does not merely measure one's success, though Paula has much of that," he said. "When you look at her filmography, it is easy to get a sense that she is a woman of substance."

Weinstein told the crowd, who gathered at Nick & Stef's Steakhouse in her honor, that once she receives a green light on a film, the work part is done.

"I forget it's work," she said. "I always look at a new film as an incredible journey that I am about to embark upon."
