Off 'Road,' Meyer enters 'Race'

Zucker returns to directing comedy

Breckin Meyer, star of the recent DreamWorks hit laffer "Road Trip," is now rushing toward Paramount's "Rat Race."

A new ensemble comedy developed by scribe Andy Brechtman and helmer Jerry Zucker, pic takes its inspiration from 1963's "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World."

Meyer plays one of the lead characters caught up in a race for money set up by a Las Vegas casino magnate who's determined to find a new avenue for wagering -- people.

"Rat Race," which marks Jerry Zucker's return to comedic helming, is being produced by Jerry and Janet Zucker and by the Par-based Alphaville.

Meyer, who has appeared in "Go," "54" and "Clueless," was repped in the deal by the Gersh Agency.
