Zide, Perry at New Line

Producer/managers ink prod'n pact

HOLLYWOOD -- In a decade's time, Warren Zide and Craig Perry have gone from mailroom interns to producers at New Line, striking a one-year, first-look deal at the mini-major.

Zide and Perry produced the recent New Line frightener "Final Destination" and U's hit 1999 teen sex comedy "American Pie." Sources say a second year is likely on the development and production deal.

"We've had great success with these guys," said Brian Witten, New Line senior VP of production. "Over the years we've had several movies in development with them. Warren's first sale to New Line was 'Mango.' It goes back to our philosophy of keeping people part of the New Line family."

"It's very hard to find the same tastes and sensibilities as we have," said Zide. "At New Line we have found that," he explained.

"It's like going back home," added Perry.

Zide and Perry are developing sequels for both "American Pie" and "Final Destination." Their WB laffer "Like Cats and Dogs" begins lensing today in Vancouver, with Jeff Goldblum toplining.

Company is also making the Stuart Gibbs' penned "RepliKate" for Helkon Media, which starts lensing this September with Frank Longo at the helm.

As managers, Zide and Perry rep such screenwriters as Ben Ramsey ('The Big Hit"), Stuart Gibbs ("RepliKate"), Chap Taylor, Craig Titley and the writing duo of Mark Swift and Damian Shannon.

Zide and Perry's deal was brokered by attorney Jason Sloane.
