Roth studio inks dandy Scandi deal
Svensk joins Toho-Towa and Senator in distrib stable
Svensk will release Roth's pics in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. Revolution is expected to produce six films a year. Lensing on the first, "Tomcats," started June 5.
Distrib trio
Svensk has become Revolution's third foreign distrib, after Senator in Germany and Toho-Towa in Japan; none is an equity partner in Revolution. Sony will release the company's films in the rest of the world.
Deal completes Svensk's lineup of major output deals, according to president Rasmus Ramstad. Over the past couple of years, he has been beefing up the company's slate through long-term deals with New Line, Intermedia, Daybreak Prods. and Spyglass.
Nordic might
"Svensk Filmindustri holds a dominating position as a theatrical and video distributor throughout the Nordic territory, and this deal will further strengthen our position in this market," said Ramstad.
Roth declared, "It's a dream come true to have the financing to produce my own slate of pictures, and I am delighted that Svensk, with whom I had tremendous success when I launched Morgan Creek, has agreed to be a part of this new venture."
