Blurb world's Moxie hangs pic, TV shingle
Friedman, Silvestri handed reins
In launching the division, Moxie principals Dan Levinson and Gary Rose have committed to make several films, including "Black Monk Time," penned by Andy Bienen ("Boys Don't Cry"), which Moxie will produce in association with Gotham-based Killer Films.
Eight-year-old Moxie plans to put into production at least three or four films a year.
"We are proud to launch this new division with Lizzie and Francesca at the helm," Levinson said. "They are smart, driven and bring an exciting and deep development slate to Moxie."
Prior to joining Moxie, Silvestri and Friedman produced under their Friedman/Silvestri Entertainment shingle. They have set up "A View From the Top," to be co-produced with Basic Entertainment, at Miramax.
Moxie's development slate includes "Game," based on an original treatment by Friedman and Silvestri, with Frank Coraci ("Waterboy") attached to helm; "The Process Server," to be directed by Joe Nussbaum ("George Lucas in Love"); and "Neorealism," penned and to be helmed by actor Adam Goldberg, with Giovanni Ribisi, Julie Delpy, Natasha Lyonne and Nicky Katt.
On the television side, Moxie's development projects include "The Aileen Eaton Story," with Marisa Tomei attached to star and Frank Pugliese ("Mob Girl") attached to write; and the animated series "The Universals," created by artist Kenny Scharf and scribe Ross Venokur ("Scarsdale").
Recent Moxie commercial productions include the promotional campaign for "Sex and the City," helmed by Moxie principal Levinson; "Coca-Cola" by John Madden via Leo Burnett; Jim Sheridan's second installment of MasterCard's "Priceless" campaign for McCann Erickson; and John Waters' first commercial for More.com for Citron Haligman Bedecarre.
Friedman and Silvestri are repped by Barnes, Morris, Klein and Yorn, and by agents Graham Kaye and John Capano at Innovative Artists.
