The Lauren Bacall/Rosemary Harris starrer opened on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theater on Dec. 16, 1999, the 100th anniversary of the playwright's birth. The production transferred to the O'Neill on Feb. 17, when the Walter Kerr was needed for "A Moon for the Misbegotten."
The "Wings" run was marked by the death of one of its producers, Alexander H. Cohen, who passed away April 22. The production's other producers include Chase Mishkin, Max Cooper, Steven M. Levy and Leonard Soloway.
Box office for the week of May 8 was $217,062 on a gross potential of $588,499. The week of April 18 brought the play its lowest B.O., $181,310; its highest, $425,923, came during the preview week of Dec. 6.
