Big-spending cabler Telewest Communications has seen first-quarter losses deepen slightly, despite a 27% rise in revenues to £239 million ($358 million).
The No. 2 U.K. cable operator, whose shareholders include Liberty Media and Microsoft, lost $205 million compared with $202 million a year ago.
Costs remain high due to acquisitions and the burden of introducing new services.
AUSTRALIA
Former Overseas FilmGroup executive Richard Guardian has been appointed to head the worldwide sales operations of Beyond Films in Los Angeles, reporting to Sydney-based general manager Gary Hamilton.
Guardian replaces LA-based sales topper Jim Jusko and U.K. representative Dee Emerson. His posting comes after a restructure of Beyond Film’s Sydney HQ, which resulted in several pinkslips.
