“It is with great pleasure that I welcome Mike to our board,” said Film Roman prexy and CEO John Hyde. “He is universally respected as one of the industry’s premier executives, and on a personal note, he’s a good friend who will add immeasurably to our company’s strategic positioning for the future.”
At Phoenix Pictures, Medavoy served as an exec producer on last November’s CBS miniseries “Shake, Rattle and Roll: An American Love Story.” Upcoming Phoenix features include “Mad About Mambo,” a July release starring Keri Russell (“Felicity”), and “The 6th Day,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and set for release in October.
Prior to heading up Phoenix, Medavoy served as chairman of TriStar Pictures (“Sleepless in Seattle,” “Philadelphia”) and was co-founder of Orion Pictures, which produced “The Silence of the Lambs,” “Eight Men Out” and “Hannah and Her Sisters.”
“I’m delighted to be joining my friend John Hyde on the board at Film Roman,” said Medavoy. “I’m positive that with John’s leadership, Film Roman will continue to grow in all areas of the entertainment field where it has preeminence.”
Besides “The Simpsons,” which established Film Roman as a leading animation house, the company has produced numerous animated programs including “The Critic,” “King of the Hill” and “The Family Guy.”
