Hawke, fresh from starring in Michael Almereyda’s 21st century bigscreen update of “Hamlet,” is returning to the stage — this time courtesy of Lincoln Center Theater, which is producing. Legiter will begin treading the boards by next February at the LCT’s Mitzi Newhouse.
Robards, Margulies
Also in final talks to star are Jason Robards and longtime “E.R.” star Julianna Margulies, whose involvement was first reported in Daily Variety (March, 31).
Storyline surrounds an expatriate American artist (Robards) living in Mexico and his assistant (Hawke), whose lives are thrown into chaos by a young environmentalist (Margulies), who raises profound questions for the two about spirituality and patriotism.
Sullivan takes Baitz
Baitz, best known for Off Broadway legiters like “The Substance of Fire,” “Three Hotels,” and “A Fair Country,” will see his newest work helmed by Daniel Sullivan — the prolific legit director whose version of “Moon for the Misbegotten” is currently on Broadway and who is also helming this year’s Pulitzer Prize winner for drama, “Dinner With Friends,” Off Broadway.
Hawke is repped by Creative Artists Agency and managed by 3 Arts. Baitz, Sullivan and Robards are all repped by the William Morris Agency. Margulies is repped by ICM and managed by AMG.
