Watson joins Diggs in sci-fi 'Librium'

Pic takes place in a fascist future

By DAN COX

Oscar-nominee Emily Watson has joined Dimension Films' sci-fi thriller "Librium," opposite Taye Diggs.

Set in a fascist future where all forms of feeling are illegal, pic follows the journey of one man charged with enforcing the law and his ultimate transformation and rise to overthrow the system.

Kurt Wimmer ("The Thomas Crown Affair") is helming the pic for producer Jan De Bont ("Speed," "Twister" and "The Haunting") and Lucas Foster ("Mask of Zorro," "Crimson Tide" and "Bad Boys") of Blue Tulip Prods.

Pic is expected to start lensing in Europe in July.

George Freeman of the William Morris Agency repped Watson in the deal.

Dimension senior VP Andrew Rona will oversee the pic.
