Playboy rocks Web

Bunny, BlackDragon hop into online music

In an effort to expand heavily into the online music space, Playboy.com has teamed up with Internet entertainment company BlackDragon.com to launch Sex & Rock & Roll.com.

Site, which bows today, is being described as a music-based episodic series that combines both live and taped video interviews, concerts and behind-the-scenes footage from venues around the world, including the Playboy Mansion, hosted by Playboy playmates.

Music artists Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit and Godsmack have already recorded poolside interviews for the constantly updated site. Playboy’s Playmate of the Year Party at the mansion will also be featured.

Revenue model is based on advertising and merchandising. Pay-per-view fees may be charged for upcoming content.

Playboy.com CEO Kevin Mayer, along with BlackDragon.com’s CEO Gillian Bonner and prexy/executive producer Joshua Caine, are spearheading the effort. Composer Hans Zimmer and producer Jay Rifkin’s Media Ventures Entertainment Group, incubated the site. Jeff Pollack is a boardmember.

"Sex & Rock & Roll.com will provide fans access to their favorite bands and celebrities like never before in a way that only the Internet can provide," Bonner said.

"Playboy.com’s strategic arrangement with Black Dragon is an excellent example of how two successful media companies can leverage their individual assets and strengths to provide an innovative and compelling destination for music fans," said Mayer.
