20th TV ups Melnick to VP

Exec to o'see ads, P.R.

Twentieth Century Fox Television has tapped Steven Melnick VP of advertising and media relations.

Melnick, 30, will oversee all corporate communications at 20th TV, as well as program publicity, advertising, talent relations, special events and awards campaigns for the studio, the industry’s top supplier of primetime network programming. He reports directly to 20th TV toppers Gary Newman and Dana Walden, who announced the promotion Friday.

"Steven is a smart and savvy executive whose creativity, strategic vision and impeccable relationships with the media have earned him the trust and respect of every producer and executive at this studio," Newman said. "He has a tremendous ability to promote as well as protect the work and ideas of his colleagues, and we’re thrilled to promote him to this position."

Melnick had been director of media relations at 20th TV since April 1999. He joined the studio in 1996 as media relations manager, having started his small screen publicity career in 1994 at the Rogers & Cowan praisery.

In 1997, Melnick snagged a Publicist’s Guild Award for his work overseeing publicity for "The X-Files." He’s also helped launch "Titus," "Dharma & Greg," "King of the Hill," "Roswell," "Martial Law" and "Two Guys and a Girl."
