Propaganda taps Dollard
Exec to create special management division
Propaganda prexy Rick Hess said, "Pat is the obvious choice for us because of the way he works with his clients, such as directors Steven Soder-bergh, Greg Mottolla and Agnieszka Holland."
Hess and Dollard envision a man-agement division that will be proactive in the life of the filmmaker, helping clients build careers across multiple media, include shorts for the Internet, digital films, television and motion pictures.
"Our job is to be an indispensable resource to filmmakers at a time when it is important to be entrepreneurial," Dollard said. "Studios are aggressively looking for creative ways to get films made, and a filmmaker who has not aligned himself with appropriate resources is a filmmaker at a disadvantage."
Dollard did not elaborate on the ultimate size of the division but said, "We want to make a statement to the community that we want to be one of the top four or five management companies available to talent, and we will be very aggressive about bringing on other managers and enlarging our talent base."
Dollard, a former William Morris agent turned manager, most recently ran his own management and production company, and he brings clients Soderbergh, Holland and Mottolla with him. According to sources, he was pursued by AMG and Industry before settling on Propaganda.
The new divisions first hire is ICM agent David Flynn. A native of Ireland, Flynn brings with him director Enda Hughes, writers Adrian Butchart and Caprice Crane and actor Vincent Schiavelli. Before his tenure at ICM, Flynn worked in various physical production capacities on "Braveheart," "Assassins" and "Mars Attacks."
"The exciting thing for me," Flynn said, "was the name Propaganda and the chance to work with [Propaganda chief operating officer Trevor Macy], Rick and Pat at a company that is going through a big upswing."
