Indie PR Web site set

HollywoodPR.com to help filmmakers with press kits, releases

The Assn. of Independent Feature Film Producers has formed HollywoodPR.com, a virtual flackery that will serve independent filmmakers.

The Web site will soon be fully operational; Barry Collin, AIFFP director of new media, will run it. Collin said 10 independent public relations people will work with the filmmakers who sign up for the service on HollywoodPR.com.

“Independent filmmakers have long had trouble effectively communicating their news to the media,” Collin said. “HollywoodPR.com will open a much needed communications path with key media worldwide.”

An exact fee structure is still in development, Collin said.

HollywoodPR will help create and distribute press kits and releases for both domestic and international productions. The Web site will offer trailers for viewing and push marketing tactics a la “The Blair Witch Project.”

In the long term, HollywoodPR wants to offer Web-based tutorials and CD-ROMs for filmmakers.
