Landing the 'Big Kahuna'

Trigger's first picture delights

Lions Gate pitched its new salesman comedy "The Big Kahuna" on Wednesday at the Harmony Gold in Hollywood, with an after-party at the Sunset Room.

The first pic from Kevin Spacey’s production company, Trigger Street, didn’t necessarily leave the thesp as the big kahuna of his own biz, he said.

"The great thing is that with the people I hired for this movie, I wasn’t required to be one at all. They’ve all done such an incredible job, I haven’t really had much to do."

Helmer John Swanbeck summed up film this way: "I think all of us have the fantasy that we’re the big kahuna. If the world worked the way we think it should work, wouldn’t it be a better place."

Kahunas big and small on the scene for the event included Lions Gate’s co-prexies Mark Urman and Tom Ortenberg, pic’s stars Danny DeVito with wife Rhea Perlman and Peter Facinelli, plus guests Denzel Washington, Edward Norton, Jennie Garth, Frances Fisher, Robin S. Tunney and Curtis Hanson.
