Jackman joins 'Animal' cast

Oz newcomer to star in Fox 2000 story

Aussie newcomer Hugh Jackman is set to star in Fox 2000's Ashley Judd starrer "Animal Husbandry."

Adapted by Elizabeth Chandler ("A Little Princess") and helmed by Tony Goldwyn ("A Walk on the Moon"), "Husbandry" is based on Laura Zigman's 1998 novel. Story follows a jilted latenight TV talent booker who embraces theories of bovine behavior to understand why her latest relationship went awry.

Jackman will make his North American screen debut this July in 20th Century Fox's actioner "The X-Men." He also recently toplined Trevor Nunn's acclaimed West End revival of tuner "Oklahoma!"Terms of the "Husbandry" deal were not disclosed.The Lynda Obst-produced pic is slated to start lensing this July 1, with production supervised by Fox 2000 veepee Ashley Kramer.

Jackman was repped on the deal by CAA.
