Bay to focus on 'Details'

Laffer spotlights crime scene cleanup

Touchstone Pictures has purchased an idea for a black comedy titled "The Gory Details," to be produced by Disney-based Bay Films and written by Topper Lilien and Carroll Cartwright ("Where the Money Is").

Michael Bay will produce. Project was brought to Bay by his veep, Jennifer Klein, who will serve as co-producer. Buena Vista Motion Picture Group co-presidents Todd Garner and Nina Jacobson, along with senior veep Mark Vahradian, will oversee the project for the Mouse House.

"The Gory Details" revolves around the morbid world of crime-scene cleanup.

Bay's epic "Pearl Harbor" began production on April 8 in Hawaii. He has directed such pics as "The Rock" and "Armageddon."

Lilien and Cartwright's "Where the Money Is," starring Paul Newman, Linda Fiorentino and Dermot Mulroney and directed by Marek Kanievska, is due in theaters from USA Films Friday.

Scribes are repped by The Gersh Agency and manager Peter Heller.
