Miramax nears 'Fake' deal with scribe

Studio to ink six-figure pact for Goldberg novel

Miramax is close to inking a six-figure deal to option "Fake Liar Cheat," Tod Goldberg's first novel.

MTV Books, a division of Pocket Books, will issue the novel in July.

Narrator works for a Santa Monica temp agency. He meets a kleptomaniac named Claire and the two embark on a crime spree through Hollywood'’s hottest restaurants and nightclubs.

Goldberg was repped by AMG’s Judi Farkas.
