Sunnyvale-based TiVo Inc. on Tuesday announced the appointment of two marketing execs who will lead the company's bid to build brand awareness of its customizable television technology.
Brodie Keast, previously an exec at Apple Computer, was tapped to be vice president of sales and marketing. Susan Cashen, formerly a partner at tech public relations firm Blanc & Otus, will serve as vice president of corporate communications.
"Our goal is to build a world-class marketing organization here at TiVo and these important hires demonstrate our commitment to this critical area of our business," said Mike Ramsay, president and CEO of TiVo. "Brodie's strong consumer marketing and general management experience and Susan's track record in helping companies build powerful communications campaigns will be tremendous assets as we aggressively build on our market leadership and take TiVo mainstream to the masses."
Keast will report to Ramsay. Cashen will report to Keast and serve on the company's executive committee.
At Apple Computer, Keast headed global product marketing for the Macintosh and PowerBook product lines. Cashen's clients at Blanc & Otus included Verisign, Kana Communications, MSNBC and Polaroid.
TiVo was founded in August 1997 and through its set-top box, which contains a computer hard drive, allows users to format any live television broadcast by using pause, rewind and instant replay functions. In addition, the TiVo technology gives viewers the ability to "time-shift" shows to watch them at times other than when they were originally aired.
