Inside Move

Roker, Curry meet 'Later'

"Today" show weatherman Al Roker and news anchor Ann Curry will be doing double duty this week as they guest host "Later Today" while host Jodi Applegate is on vacation. The arrangement has some industry insiders speculating that the two could become regular fixtures sometime in the near future at the program, which could use a ratings boost. When Roker re-upped with "Today" in January, deal made financial provisions for the possibility of doing "Later" work, sources said Friday. Alfred Geller, who reps both Curry and Roker, declined comment, but sources said that if everything goes well this week, Roker and Curry will have a new part-time job in the near future. "They want to give Roker a chance to show what he can do," said a source. An NBC spokeswoman declined to comment on the rumors, except to say the show "is still being developed, and there are lots of opportunities to try new things."
