Martin Scorsese and Peter Bogdanovich will be among the honorary chairs of the ninth annual Anthology Film Archives Film Preservation Honors, to take place April 11 in Manhattan.
This year's honorees include "Law and Order" producer Dick Wolf, who'll be given a life achievement award; film scholar Tom Gunning; the San Francisco-based National Film Preservation Foundation; the L.A.-based Film Technology Co.; Gotham's Cineric Film Lab; and Cinematheque Francaise.
The yearly awards recognize efforts by filmmakers, artists, actors, critics, museum preservationists or industry leaders in the area of film restoration and preservation.
Related to this year's event, the Anthology Film Archives will screen a series of films in April that have been recently restored by the companies honored. Among scheduled pics are 15 directed by Fritz Lang, including 1920s silents "Destiny," "Siegfried" and "The Spiders," and U.S. preems of the long-lost "Fighting Hearts" and "The Wandering Image."
