Boyd to helm
Pic will be helmed by Don Boyd ("Twenty-One") from a script he co-wrote with Guardian journalist Nick Davies. Producers are Neal Weisman ("The Politician's Wife") and Primary Pictures' Gabriela Bacher.
'Lear' in Liverpool
"My Kingdom" is a tale of power, ambition and greed in a contemporary Liverpool family. Pic has "King Lear" overtones: When a tragic event causes the patriarch of the family to relinquish control over his underworld kingdom, a lethal struggle ensues between his daughters.
Redgrave and Harris will play the parents.
Harris recently completed Ridley Scott's "Gladiator" for DreamWorks. Weisman, through his London-based production company Close Grip Films, recently completed "Seeing Red" for Granada Films.
Overseas Filmgroup has packaged and sold the Irish comedy "Waking Ned Devine," "Titus," and "A Map of the World." Company has in post-production the comedy "Relative Values," unspooling at Cannes later this year.
