Haas heads to AMG as tube topper
Exec to oversee packaging, lit
Haas will be responsible for all aspects of AMG's small screen biz, including packaging and TV lit. He'll work closely with Alan Berger, another former ICM agent, who joined AMG last October to coordinate AMG's relationship with sister studio Artists Television Group, among other exec duties.
A nine year vet of ICM, Haas officially ankled the tenpercentery last week, barely 48 hours after his contract with ICM allowed him to negotiate with other companies (Daily Variety, Jan. 13.) Haas had been head of TV packaging at the agency.
"I'm thrilled to be here," Haas told Daily Variety. "I'm obviously overwhelmed by the enthusiasm here, and the way the place has embraced me. I look forward to a long, adventurous ride."
AMG partner Rick Yorn said he's been wowed by Haas' early performance in his new role.
"In the 24 hours he's officially been on the job, we've already nicknamed him Paul 'The Work' Haas," Yorn quipped. "The guy just comes in ... and his energy is just amazing. He's just bouncing off the walls in a positive way."
Yorn said that Berger and Haas "will work together to build" AMG's TV business. "They're a great team."
Haas' clients following him to AMG include Frank Spotnitz ("The X-Files"), Cheryl Holliday ("King of the Hill," "Norm,") Brad Kern ("Charmed") and John Wirth ("Nash Bridges.") At ICM, Haas also repped Adam Herz ("American Pie"), Jim Herzfeld and Jay Roach.
After starting out at a small talent agency, Haas went to ICM about nine years ago. He had been head of TV lit until his promotion to head of TV packaging last March.
