Steve Oedekerk, the comic writer behind such pics as "The Nutty Professor," will be making the rounds at next week's AFM with a trio of films in various stages of development, all budgeted in the $10 million range.
The available pics are "Thumb Double Feature," a live-action comedy spoof of the two biggest films in history, "Titanic" and "Star Wars"; "Billy the Destroyer," a live-action comedy and state-of-the-art computer animation combo; and "The Barnyard," a 3-D computer-animated film that looks at what animals do when human's aren't looking.
"Although there will literally be thousands of titles offered at this year's AFM," Oedekerk said, "we can honestly say that ours are unlike anything out there."
Oedekerk collaborated with Jim Carrey on "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective." He also wrote and directed "Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls" and penned "Patch Adams."
Currently, Oedekerk is exec producing a primetime computer-animated feature film and primetime series, "Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius," for Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount. Pic is slated for a summer 2001 release. "Neutron" is the first Nickelodeon property to be developed as a multimedia franchise.
Oedekerk also wrote, directed, produced and starred in his own television special, NBC's "steve.oedekerk.com."
