Beineix to helm again

Filmmaker tackling 'Mortel Transfert'

PARIS -- Jean-Jacques Beineix, the French director of "Diva" and "Betty Blue," is about to get behind the camera again for the first time in eight years.

Beineix's last film was the 1992 offering "IP 5," starring Yves Montand. Shooting of the pic ended on a bleak note when the 70-year-old actor suffered a heart attack and died. Beineix came under criticism from grief-stricken fans for having made Montand reshoot a scene that required him to stand in a cold lake.

Beineix's new film, "Mortel Transfert," produced by his own Cargo Films, stars Jean Hugues Anglade, Helene de Fougerolles (who appears in Danny Boyle's "The Beach") and Robert Hirsch. The 13-week shoot starts March 2, the daily Le Parisien said.
