MADRID -- Tony Themistocleous has exited as executive consultant at the London-based sales and development company Lolafilms U.K., a subsid of Spain's biggest movie production company, Lolafilms.
Themistocleous' departure was contemplated in the original gameplan at Lolafilms U.K., which was launched at the Cannes Film Festival last May to develop and sell English-lingo pics aimed at the international market.
Popularly known as Tony T, the former senior vice president at United Intl. Pictures was brought into Lola to develop its business plan and firm up relationships with U.S. companies.
"Tony achieved all his objectives. I certainly don't rule out working with him again," Lolafilms CEO Andres Vicente Gomez told Daily Variety.
Lolafilms U.K.'s production slate has kicked off with Chris Monger's "That Girl From Rio," now in post, and Susan Seidelman's "Gaudi Afternoon," which began principal photography Feb. 7 on location in Barcelona. Pic stars Judy Davis, Juliette Lewis, Lili Taylor and Marcia Gay Harden.
Nicole Mackey, prexy of international sales, and Nadine Luque, director of creative affairs, will continue to run Lolafilms U.K. in London.
