MGM/UA ups Markoe

Exec named sr. VP of post-production

Bruce Markoe has been upped to senior veep of post-production at MGM and United Artists Pictures. He will supervise all feature film post-production operations, including budgeting, lab work and visual effects.

Reporting to MGM production prexy Robert Relyea, Markoe will also identify ways to incorporate new technologies into the studio's post-production, distribution and library restoration activities.

Markoe's first two post projects are putting the finishing touches on "Return to Me," starring Minnie Driver and David Duchovny and fine-tuning "Autumn in New York" with Richard Gere and Winona Ryder.

"As we accelerate our productions, Bruce's talents, combined with those of the rest of the MGM team, will provide us with the essential elements needed to successfully deliver distinctive, high-quality motion pictures," said Relyea.

Most recently serving as the studio's post-production veep, Markoe initiated MGM's first moves into the high-definition arena, when using digital video for post work on "Return to Me." He also oversaw the renovations of the animated Beatles pic "Yellow Submarine."

Prior to teaming with MGM in 1993, Markoe served as co-designer and general manager of LucasArts' Skywalker Sound in Los Angeles. He has also worked eight years at post facility JDH Sound.

Revving up to start lensing next week for MGM are the thrillers "Dancing in the Dark" with Angelina Jolie and Antonio Banderas, and "Antitrust," featuring Tim Robbins and Ryan Phillippe.
