Fox music taps Michels

Exec to supervise film scores

Seven-year music industry veteran Julia Michels has been tapped VP of creative affairs for Fox Music, reporting to Fox Music prexy Robert Kraft. She will supervise music for feature films from TCF, Fox 2000 and Fox Searchlight as well as soundtracks from Fox Television.

Prior to joining Fox, Michels served as director of soundtracks for Capitol Records, where she was instrumental in the creation of such soundtracks as "Hope Floats," "Scream 2," "Good Will Hunting," "There's Something About Mary" and "Never Been Kissed."

"All my experience in the music industry -- I've been a music editor and an agent for film composers as well as my work at Capitol -- has culminated in this position, which will allow me to create great soundtracks for our films," Michels told Daily Variety.

"The first thing I'm going to be working on is the soundtrack for 'Titan A.E.' -- the animated film that's coming out this summer," Michels continued. "We're going to have 10-12 original songs from gold and platinum artists. (Multiplatinum record producer and Java label head) Glen Ballard is the music supervisor on the project."
