IFP again reps U.S. pix for Directors Fortnight
Group aids screenings at Cannes
As the official U.S. representative, the IFP facilitates preview screenings and supplies application forms to filmmakers of submitted films on behalf of Marie-Pierre Macia of the Directors Fortnight. Screenings will be held in New York at Magno Sound and Video March 20-25. Previous selected films include Allen & Albert Hughes' "Menace II Society," Tamara Jenkins' "The Slums of Beverly Hills," Spike Lee's "Summer of Sam" and Sofia Coppola's "The Virgin Suicides."
Submission deadline is March 3. Fiction features must be produced after January 1999 and must not have participated in any competitive festival or any cinematic event outside of their country of origin. Additionally, films must not have been released commercially in France or outside their country of origin. If selected, films not shot in 35mm will need to be blown up to 35mm and subtitled in French for presentation in Cannes.
