Fest will fete Scardino

Pearson chief to receive Gold Nymph Award at Monte Carlo

Pearson chief exec Marjorie Scardino will receive the Gold Nymph Award as outstanding media exec at the Monte Carlo Television Festival.

Prince Albert of Monaco will present the honor to Scardino on Feb. 20 at the festival's prize ceremony. The award recognizes an exec whose career in the communications industry has significantly affected the worldwide media.

Scardino became chief exec of Pearson, the international media group whose primary business operations include Pearson Education, the Financial Times Group, the Penguin Group and Pearson Television, in 1997. Prior to this post, she was chief exec of the Economist Group.

Producer David E. Kelley, thesp Roger Moore and actress Jane Seymour will also be honored at the festival, which takes place Feb. 17-23.
