Cahners Business Information -- the parent company of Variety and Daily Variety -- will launch in April the publication E-Commerce Business, which will cover the e-tailing market.
E-Commerce was created to explore the booming number of online transactions made between businesses and by consumers themselves -- 'Net retail sales were estimated at $20 billion last year and are projected to hit $100 billion by 2002, according to Forrester Research.
Business-to-business-to-boom
And business-to-business sales are expected to grow from $109 billion in 1999 to over $840 billion by 2002.
"Retail and business-to-business decision makers, whether they are selling over the Internet today or not, need a publication that focuses exclusively on the fast-changing e-commerce environment," said Cahners chief operations officer Bruce Nairn.
The mag also will report on e-commerce-related support services, including marketing, technical, strategy and design operations -- which collectively pulled in $10.6 billion in 1999, and is estimated to increase to $48 billion by 2002.
With its first issue rolling out April 17, the mag will publish 18 times in 2000 and 24 times in 2001.
