Wilson, Roseanne to do 'Monologues'
NO NOISY POST-AWARD PARTY for Barbra Streisand. As soft Sinatra music played in the background, Barbra and husband James Brolin and close friends were supped upstairs at Matteo's by her longtime manager and friend Marty Erlichman and his wife Miko after the Golden Globes. Also on hand were Josh Brolin and Minnie Driver, and Shirley MacLaine, who had intro'd the Streisand tribute which included clips of pix like "Prince of Tides" which she directed costarring Nick Nolte -- who was also there, as were Deborah and Jeff Wald. Downstairs, among Sunday night regulars at Matteo's was Jacqueline Stallone, who asked, "Is there anyone more important than me here tonight?" Welllll -- ... "John," up for Oscar consideration as live-action short, was filmed at Matteo's by director Marni Banack and produced by J.B. Sugar, written by Jerome Nachman, starring Victor Raider Wexler and Gregg M. Miller ... Jimmy Murphy scuttled plans to relocate his BevHills restaurant, which lost its lease after having undergone a recent million-$ face (and kitchen) lift. Today, Murphy auctions off the entire eatery, from pots and pans to paintings and pianos. As for the future, Murphy says he may go for an upscale Irish pub "where you can dance on the bar." One item Murphy will take with him is a blarney stone from Blarney Castle -- presented to him by the mayor of Cork in 1985. Sure and it's a sad day ... Their many friends are saddened to learn that Tommy Gallagher, Suzanne Pleshette's husband, died Friday. They were married 31 years. "And we were together 34," says Suzanne, "which is very interesting since I am only 39 years old." While she maintains a brave sense of humor, Suzanne is devastated by his passing as she goes about final arrangements -- having also fractured a shoulder when she accidentally went into the kitchen -- she never goes there. There will be no funeral services, she says.
RICHARD ATTENBOROUGH WINGS into L.A. Jan. 31 to set in motion his next pic, "American Lover." The story of Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone De Beauvoir and Nelson Algren has Brendan Fraser playing Algren in the very sexy 1951-set story ... Marty Ingels and Shirley Jones are on a "six-month trial separation." But they are still set to lead a seminar at the BevHilton -- in how to keep your marriage together ... Sandy and Henri Bollinger became grandparents twice within four days when their son Jeremy (a screenwriter) and his wife Michelle welcomed a baby girl, Emma, at Cedars-Sinai and their daughter Jennifer and her husband Dave Goosenberg (both attorneys) welcomed son Shawn Isaac at Encino-Tarzana Medical Center ... Meryl Marshall, Academy of TV Arts & Sciences chairman-CEO, jets from NATPE to D.C. for the Mayors Arts Gala to present the Congressional Arts Leadership Award to Congresswoman Nancy Johnson (R-Conn.), who has been a strong and consistent supporter of the arts during her 17-year tenure in the House. Marshall also meets with the U.S. Conference of Mayors on the issue of runaway production to Canada ... With the Palm Springs Festival Awards behind him, Scott Maura next produces the New Dramatists 51st annual luncheon tribute which presents Angela Lansbury with the Lifetime Achievement Award, May 16 at the Marriott Marquis. It's a big pre-Tony/B'way tribute from the theater community. Already confirmed are Bea Arthur and Jerry Herman ... Dick Taylor is producing the Feb. 12 Desert AIDS Project Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards gala. Line Renaud is the honoree for her worldwide efforts for AIDS research and treatment. The gala is themed "A Night at the Cocoanut Grove" -- where Renaud starred at the Ambassador hotel on her arrival in L.A. in the '50s. Jeanne White, mother of Ryan White, will present the evening's AIDS Project awards.
