Daily Variety has announced the addition of three reporters to its Los Angeles reporting staff.
Under the direction of film editor Christian Moerk, the new reporters will expand the paper's coverage of both the major studios and the indie scene, as well as bring a varied range of expertise to the paper's coverage of publishing, international sales and labor/governmental relations.
Veteran L.A.-based entertainment reporter Dave McNary joins Daily Variety after a decade on the local showbiz scene for the Los Angeles Daily News and United Press International. A graduate of UCLA, McNary also worked as a reporter for the Pasadena Star-News, City News Service and the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
Former Wall Street Journal reporter Paul Duke worked in the WSJ Washington and Dallas bureaus. Duke also worked as an independent film producer-director specializing in projects based in the Far East.
Jonathan Bing, previously book reviews editor and interviews editor at Publishers Weekly, has also been a contributing writer for the Nation, the Village Voice and the New York Times Book Review.
