Ticketmaster group ups Pleasants to prez
Exec to o'see three web ventures
In his new role, Pleasants will oversee each of the Pasadena-based company's three main Web ventures -- ticketmaster.com, citysearch.com and match.com -- that sell concert tickets and provide 35 guides to cities across the country.
He will report directly to CEO Charles Conn.
Most recently, Pleasants was prexy of ticketing and transactions for the company, where he oversaw the launch of new e-commerce initiatives, the growth of the ticketing business and the creation of the CitySearch Reservation Center, featuring hotel, golf, restaurant and other online reservations.
Before that, he was executive veep of new markets, where he led the creation of the local portal sites and business model and the national rollout of city guides.
Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch also said Friday that Dan Marriott will assume the broader role of executive veep, corporate strategy and development, reflecting his expanded role in strategy development, deal leadership and partnerships and alliances.
Marriott was responsible for the company's acquisition of Microsoft Sidewalk and match.com last year.
Marriott also has been veep of marketing, executive veep of product development and marketing, and executive veep of business development for the company.
"Each quarter over the last year we have significantly surpassed the revenue expectations set at our IPO," Conn said. "By creating the positions of president and executive vice president of corporate strategy, we will leverage our deep-bench strength to manage the growth of our existing businesses and entry into new ones."
Both Pleasants and Marriott have also held management posts at PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division and at Hygiene Industries.
