Kevin Brockman and Shirley Powell have been elected chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of the Television Publicity Executive Committee.
Brockman is veep of media and artist relations at ABC, while Powell serves as NBC's senior veep of entertainment publicity. Both have already assumed their new posts within TPEC, a TV industry trade organization formed in 1985 to rep the interests of small-screen publicists.
Also elected to the board was Carsey-Werner senior veep of publicity James Anderson, who fills the position of treasurer. Member-at-large Lance Webster was elected to a second term as recording secretary.
"The ongoing mandate of this organization is to advance the visibility and viability of the public relations profession, and I'm thrilled to be championing this cause as we enter a new millennium," Brockman said. "As our industry continues to evolve, and the landscape of our business continues to change, the role of the top publicity executive will become even more critical to a company's success."
TPEC sponsors several annual industry events, including an upcoming panel discussion among the presidents of all of the major TV production studios.
