'Dwarf' duo set for B'Way
Broderick, Posey to star in May's legit comedy
Broderick had been mentioned to star weeks ago. The casting of Posey, however, comes as something of a surprise. Kyra Sedgwick and Julia Louis Dreyfus were rumored contenders.
"Dwarf" marks Posey's Broadway debut. Her last legit turn was in the Los Angeles premiere of John Patrick Shanley's "Four Dogs and a Bone," at the Geffen Playhouse in 1995. The actress, often called queen of the indies for her 30-plus independent-movie credits, recently wrapped Christopher Guest's tentatively titled "Dogumentary." She also appears in "Scream 3," to be released early next year.
Last season, Broderick appeared on Broadway in the National Actors Theater's production of Emlyn Williams' classic thriller "Night Must Fall." On Nov. 14, he participated in the HB Playwrights Foundation tribute to Uta Hagen, playing Nick in a staged reading of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"
Posey is repped by Endeavor, Broderick by CAA.
