Post-Newsweek ups Frank
VP-G.M. becomes prexy
Frank has been vice president-general manager of Post-Newsweek's WDIV-TV, the NBC affil in Detroit, since April 1988. He's also the current chairman of NBC's affiliate board of directors.
The exec replaces Bill Ryan, who will remain CEO but add chairman stripes at Post-Newsweek Stations. He's been president and CEO at the station group since 1991. Both changes take effect Jan. 1, the company announced Thursday.
Frank first joined WDIV in 1979 as program manager, moving up to vice president of program development and audience development at the station before being named VP of programming and production at Post-Newsweek Stations in 1986.
Other experience includes program director stints at WJZ-TV, Baltimore and WBZ-TV, Boston.
"Alan Frank is one of the most talented leaders in broadcasting today," said Washington Post Co. prexy Alan Spoon.
Besides WDIV, Post-Newsweek's stations include KPRC-TV, Houston; WPLG-TV, Miami; WKMG-TV, Orlando, Fla.; KSAT-TV, San Antonio, Texas; and WJXT-TV, Jacksonville, Fla.
In other station news, Cox Broadcasting's KTVU, San Francisco, has signed a new 10-year affiliation agreement with Fox.
