Davis booked to helm Sony's 'Travel Agent'

Stone, Halsted to produce

Helmer Andrew Davis ("A Perfect Murder," "The Fugitive") is readying to book passage on sci-fi actioner "The Travel Agent" for Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Storyline follows a futuristic economist who has been working as a "time jumper" to track future financial crises and trends in order to keep an unusually robust U.S. economy thriving. But things get complicated when he discovers that his boss is part of a conspiracy involving the use of his temporal device to assassinate the president.

Pic, scripted by Gregory Hansen (who penned 1993's afterlife comedy "Heart and Souls"), will be produced by Wolfgang Petersen and Gail Katz of Sony-based Radiant Prods.

Oliver Stone and Dan Halsted will exec produce.

Production and development of the pic is being supervised by Columbia Pictures exec VP of production Doug Belgrad.

Davis is being repped in the deal by CAA.
