Meadows signs deal for SNL Studios skein
Thesp is one of show's longest-running cast members
Meadows is in his ninth season on the latenight sketch series, making him one of the longest-running cast members in "Saturday Night Live's" history, along with Kevin Nealon and Phil Hartman.
"I can't think of anyone I'd rather work with than Tim Meadows," said SNL Studios Chairman Lorne Michaels. "I'm very pleased."
Meadows most recently filmed "The Ladies Man," based on his "SNL" character Leon Phelps, for Paramount and SNL Studios. Meadows co-wrote the feature film, which was produced by Michaels.
Meadows' other "SNL" creations include fictional public affairs-show host Lionel Osbourne, as well as impersonations of O.J. Simpson, Johnnie Cochran, Oprah Winfrey and Ike Turner.
He first joined the "SNL" cast in February 1991 and was nominated for an Emmy as a part of "SNL's" writing team in 1993.
SNL Studios is the television and film partnership between NBC and Michaels. The division produces programming for NBC in all dayparts and develops and produces films in partnership with Paramount. It reports to NBC West Coast President Scott Sassa.
"Tim's partnership with Lorne has been successful with 'SNL' on TV and the upcoming 'Ladies Man' feature with Paramount," Sassa said. "This is the logical next step in this relationship."
