AMFMi strengthens ranks

Radio group's Web arm ups Castro to chair/CEO

AMFMi, 'Net subsid of radio station group AMFM, has strengthened its top ranks, upping James de Castro to chair and CEO and naming Randall Mays and Michael Leavitt to the board of directors.

Staying on as AMFM vice chair and prexy, de Castro will work to extend the AMFM brand to the Internet by steering development of the company's e-commerce sites and live radio Webcasts, while continuing to manage AMFM Radio Group's day-to-day operations.

Co-founder of AMFM's predecessor company, Evergreen Media, de Castro led several station-format restructurings in L.A., New York and Chicago.

New AMFMi board member Mays is currently exec VP and chief financial officer of Clear Channel Communications, which merged with AMFM in October. Before Clear Channel, Mays worked in the mergers and acquisitions department of Goldman, Sachs.

Leavitt is a partner of Hicks, Muse, Tate and Furst. He also serves on the boards of AMFM, Capstar Broadcasting, El Sitio, Intl. Home Foods, RCN and STC Broadcasting.
