Loews taps Pekowsky

Exec named VP, intl. legal affairs

Loews Cineplex Entertainment Corp. has named Michael G. Pekowsky VP, international legal affairs as part of its expansion into markets outside of North America.

Pekowsky will oversee all legal aspects of Loews' joint venture activities in Spain, Italy, Turkey and Vietnam, and will work to establish future ventures in other territories. He will also be responsible for legal affairs in Central and Eastern Europe.

"As we continue to grow our exhibition business overseas, Michael's expertise in international affairs will be an invaluable resource," said J. Edward Shugrue, prexy of Loews Cineplex International.

Previously, Pekowsky was of counsel to Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, where he represented American, European and Russian clients in corporate, securities and commercial transactions. He also served as an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.
