NBC angles for Wayans, lands Marlon

Peacock inks multiple-script deal

It's a Wayans world, all right. Marlon Wayans is the latest member of that hyphenate clan to ink a series development deal for the 2000-01 season.

Details of Wayans' pact with NBC Studios were hazy Thursday, but it's said to encompass a talent holding deal and an order of multiple scripts for a prospective comedy vehicle. The Peacock's studio arm is developing the project with the Warren Littlefield Co.

NBC already is developing a comedy project dubbed "Not the Brady Bunch" with Keenen Ivory Wayans, although he is on board only as a writer-producer. ABC, meanwhile, recently inked a big-bucks deal that calls for Damon Wayans to produce and star in a family-oriented comedy series (Daily Variety , Aug. 30).

The Littlefield Co. is said to have been aggressively pursuing a development deal with Marlon Wayans, who wrapped a five season run this past year as co-star with brother Shawn Wayans in the WB Network's "Wayans Brothers" buddy sitcom. Littlefield ordered the original pilot for that series back in 1994 during his tenure as NBC entertainment prexy.

As he preps his return to the small screen, Wayans has a busy feature release sked in the months ahead. He's a co-star of the upcoming Artisan Entertainment release "Requiem for a Dream," and he just wrapped a role in Joel Silver's forthcoming Warner Bros. pic "Dungeons & Dragons."

Marlon and Shawn Wayans also are co-writing a horror spoof for Dimension Films dubbed "Scream If You Know What I Did Last Halloween."

Marlon Wayans is repped by managers Lisa Blum and Eric L. Gold of the Gold/Miller Co. and attorney Stephen Barnes of Bloom, Hergott, Cook, Diemer & Klein.
