Fearing off to Disney's 'Net arm as marketing VP

New title official with merger

Judy Fearing has joined Disney's online arm as senior VP of marketing for Buena Vista Internet Group and Go.com -- a newly created position.

In her new post, Fearing will oversee the development of marketing and branding strategies across Go Network, including Buena Vista Internet's various sites, including ABC.com, ABCNews.com, Disney.com, ESPN.com and Family.com.

Fearing currently is senior veep of global marketing and studio development for Disney Consumer Products.

BVIG/Infoseek link-up

Although Fearing will assume the duties Monday, she will take on the new title when BVIG and Infoseek merge later this year.

She will report to Steve Bornstein, chairman of BVIG.

"I've had the pleasure of working with Judy for several years, and I couldn't be more pleased that she's joining our team," Bornstein said. "Judy's talent and proven track record of building brands makes her an ideal choice to lead our marketing efforts."

Property push

At Disney Consumer Products, Fearing drove marketing strategies across all businesses and lead the strategic development for products based on Disney properties.

Before that, Fearing was senior veep of marketing at ESPN. She also served as veep and general manager of RJR Nabisco's specialty foods division and spent 12 years at PepsiCom in several posts, including veep of cola marketing.
